Two days ago, Ekstra Bladet reported Manchester United and Aston Villa were among the clubs to have sent scouts to take a closer look at Brøndby IF star Nicolai Vallys live in action against FC Nordsjælland.

The attacking midfielder impressed the Red Devils and the Villans by scoring the winner in his side’s 2-1 victory at the weekend.

Wednesday’s Ekstra Bladet states Manchester United, Aston Villa, VfL Wolfsburg, Real Betis, Marseille and PSV Eindhoven are all ‘queuing up’ for the 27-year-old.

The Denmark international has scored seven goals this season and has a deal lasting until 2026. His style of play and football intelligence has seen him attract interest from several clubs.

According to the newspaper, the Danish club valued their star at €10m in the last window, and will have to ‘adjust the price tag’ if the player has to fulfil his wish to move to a top league.

With Manchester United and Aston Villa among the clubs in the picture, Ekstra Bladet say Brøndby sporting director Carsten V. Jensen shouldn’t expect more than €6m for Vallys, even though he’s ‘one of the Superliga’s absolute best players.’

That’s because it’s not often for experienced players from the Danish league to be sold to a top league for a large sum.

Jensen’s desire is for Vallys to end his career at Brøndby but the report says that’s ‘unlikely to happen’.

Hyping up interest from big Premier League clubs, whilst talking down the price doesn’t make a great deal of sense. That could raise suspicion this is more an internal issue between Brøndby and the player.

Aston Villa, West Ham United, Fulham and Brentford are all in the picture for AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham, according to Calciomercato.it.

The Villans had shown interest in the striker in the last window but were forced to end that after he suffered an injury, and the setback has had an impact on his valuation.

However, the 26-year-old hasn’t lost his appeal in England with Aston Villa, West Ham, Fulham and Brentford said to be keeping close tabs on his situation.

It’s said these four Premier League sides are ‘still vigilant and determined to obtain new information’ about the former Chelsea man.

The report says José Mourinho’s side have a desire to sell the England international to a Premier League club. Apart from Aston Villa, West Ham, Fulham and Brentford, Calciomercato.it state the Blues shouldn’t be overlooked.

The Serie A side have already signed Romelu Lukaku on loan from the west London club in the last window and their dream would be to carry out a swap deal involving Abraham and the Belgium international.

Abraham, who came up through the ranks of Chelsea’s academy, spent five years with their first team before he joined Roma in a permanent transfer in 2021.

Manchester United, Aston Villa and Southampton are among the clubs keeping close tabs on Brøndby IF star Nicolai Vallys, according to Ekstra Bladet.

The attacking midfielder has impressed this season, scoring seven goals and registering one assist from 11 games. On Sunday, he starred by netting the winner in his side’s 2-1 victory over FC Nordsjælland.

Vallys’ performances have caught the attention of several clubs, including Manchester United, Aston Villa and Southampton.

It’s claimed the Premier League duo, the Saints, VfL Wolfsburg, Real Betis, Marseille and PSV Eindhoven all had officials in attendance yesterday to watch the 27-year-old live in action against Nordsjælland.

Among these clubs, the report states PSV had sent their chief scout to take a closer look at the Denmark international and others.

When describing his latest performance, Ekstra Bladet say Vallys showcased his qualities to the scouts who were in attendance and he’s the ‘epitome of football intelligence at a high level.’

The Dane’s deal lasts until 2026 and Brøndby manager Jesper Sørensen has admitted that he’s not surprised other clubs have set their sights on him.

“I don’t go about my day worrying about whether we can keep Vallys. But if there is someone else who thinks Vallys is more talented than us, then I can really understand that,” he said.

Despite the likes of Manchester United, Aston Villa and Southampton watching Vallys, the newspaper questions if many big clubs would ‘put large sums of millions’ on the table for a player who turned 27 years of age in September.

Manchester City, Newcastle United and Aston Villa are all in the picture to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Exequiel Palacios in January, according to a report.

This season, Xabi Alonso has used him mainly as a defensive midfielder and at times in the middle of the pitch, and he has managed two goals and two assists from nine league games.

According to TNT Sports, Palacios’ form has drawn the attention of several clubs, including those from the Premier League, where Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all mentioned.

It’s claimed the Premier League trio are ‘seriously considering the possibility’ to secure his services in the winter market.

Last month, the Bundesliga side rewarded the Argentina international with a new contract until 2028, and this has helped him increase his valuation.

Despite signing the renewal, the report explains that the interest from Manchester City, Newcastle and Aston Villa presents a ‘tantalising opportunity’ for both the 25-year-old and the Bundesliga side to go ahead with the transfer.

TNT Sports makes no mention as to who among the three English clubs are leading the race and also the fee they could offer to sign Palacios in the next window.

Real Betis have identified Àlex Moreno as one of the targets to replace Juan Miranda, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Miranda’s contract runs until July 2024, and with a renewal not in sight and AC Milan showing interest, it’s not ruled out that he could change clubs in January.

The La Liga side have identified the Aston Villa left-back and Atlético Madrid’s Javi Galán as targets.

It’s said Real Betis sporting director Ramón Planes likes Galán the most and his side are closely following his situation in Madrid. His deal expires in 2026 and the report says he’s not considering leaving Los Rojiblancos at this stage.

Therefore, Planes is looking for other options and this is where Moreno could potentially fit in. The Spaniard spent over three years at Real Betis before leaving them for Aston Villa in January.

Estadio Deportivo state the 30-year-old was happy at Real Betis but Aston Villa’s offer was ‘irrefutable’, which is why he joined them.

He made 19 appearances for Unai Emery’s side in the second half of the last season and has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since May.

The report states he’s ‘having a bad time in his sporting career’, mainly due to the injury. Planes had earlier joked the Villans player had informed him that he wants to come back to the club.

“I met Àlex Moreno this summer and he told me ‘hey, I want to come back’,” Estadio quoted Planes as saying, but it’s made clear that was jovial rather than factual.

Real Betis’ potential deal for a new left-back would depend on Miranda’s exit and as things stand, Galán seems to be ahead of the Aston Villa defender in Planes’ target list.

Aston Villa can now ‘breathe a sigh of relief’ after Nicolo Zaniolo met with Italian prosecutors yesterday to again state his case and insist, he hasn’t bet on football.

That’s according to Gazzetta dello Sport, who, alongside Corriere dello Sport, cover the Italian midfielder’s meeting yesterday.

Gazzetta say Zaniolo spent almost three hours on the seventh floor of the Turin Prosecutor’s Office yesterday, where he was questioned by the public prosecutor Manuela Pedrotta.

They say he left that meeting ‘with a lighter spirit’ and his future clear as there is no evidence against him that can lead to a sporting ban similar to the ones handed down to Sandro Tonali and Nicolo Fagioli.

Zaniolo has again insisted that he ‘occasionally played poker and blackjack on illegal platforms’ but clarified that he had never been subjected to threats or intimidation or bet on football in any form.

The newspaper says that based on the evidence in the hands of the Turin Prosecutor’s Office, he hasn’t violated article 24 of the code of sporting justice and unless there is new evidence discovered he won’t be banned.

According to them, what’s been presented in ‘the drafts’ so far made Unai Emery and Monchi, Aston Villa’s sporting director, ‘breathe a sigh of relief’.

They have always believed what Zaniolo has told them and are fully planning with him, with the player travelling back to Birmingham last night to be available for the clash with Luton.

Corriere dello Sport have similar information, saying Zaniolo arrived in a ‘dark mood’ but left far happier after two and a half hours in the offices, an hour of which was ‘pleasantries’.

The rest of the time was spent analysing chats extracted from his mobile phone, questions and requests for ‘detailed information’ on the illegal sites he has used and then ‘assumptions’ constructed and dismantled one at a time.

The Aston Villa man was fully compliant with the prosecutors, answering everything that they had as they looked for connections.

They want to understand the links to organised crime, if there are any at all, and it seems that was largely the focus of the interview with Zaniolo.

As there is no evidence of him betting on football, as he has always maintained, he appears set to be handed a ‘mandatory penalty’ for betting on ‘clandestine portals’ and that will be the end of the matter.

Aston Villa’s Nicolo Zaniolo will be handed a €20,000 fine and nothing more for his involvement in the Italian football betting scandal.

That’s according to journalist Giovanni Albanese, who says the Aston Villa man faces nothing more than a fine for his part in the affair.

Zaniolo is one of three Italian footballers, alongside Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali and Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli, to have been caught up in the affair over the last few weeks.

The Aston Villa midfielder has always insisted that, unlike the other two, he has not bet on football in any form and his involvement was limited to betting on poker and blackjack.

That’s a stance he’s maintained since day one and continued with yesterday when he and his lawyers met with Italian prosecutors to state their case.

Reports this morning regarding that meeting made it clear that there is currently no evidence to suggest Zaniolo is not telling the truth and his meeting was more to discuss the illegal nature of the platforms used and the potential links to organised crime.

Those same reports made it clear that the player was facing a fine and nothing more, with no sporting bans or sanctions set to be handed down.

That’s backed up by Albanese, who says the player will face nothing more than a fine of s backed up by Albanese, who says the player will face nothing more than a fine of €20,000 for betting on illegal platforms.

“Zaniolo admitted having bet on games such as Poker and Blackjack on platforms recognized as illegal,” he said.

“But unlike Tonali and Fagioli, who admitted to having played football, with the Newcastle midfielder who played for Milan in the past, albeit a winner.

“The former Roma player, however, questioned by PM Emanuela Pedrotta, will risk a fine of €20,000, precisely because the football was not touched.”

Sevilla are ‘preparing to finalise’ the sale of Marcos Acuña with a move to Aston Villa in the January transfer window ‘taking shape’.

That’s according to Fichajes, who say that Aston Villa will re-ignite their interest in the Argentine full-back and could sign him early in the January window.

They were keen on Acuña in the summer, and it seems like a move was going to happen but for various reasons, including the player picking up an injury, the transfer failed.

Their interest ‘has not waned’, though, and reports this week have indicated that Sevilla are happy to sanction an exit.

Aston Villa have ‘maintained a constant interest’ in the player, with manager Unai Emery trusting in his potential and both he and his club are ‘willing to shell out’ €15m to secure his signature.

An agreement ‘seems to be advanced’ and could be one of the first movements of the January window when it opens.

Acuña, for his part, has expressed his desire for a change of scenery in the past and ‘seems excited’ at the prospect of joining Aston Villa.

He’s ready for a new challenge in the Premier League and talks appear to be moving forward to get him to Villa Park.

Aston Villa are a better team that West Ham United, at least according to AZ Alkmaar’s Sven Mijnans, who has now taken on both.

The defender was speaking after his side took on Aston Villa in the Europa Conference League on Thursday, which Unai Emery’s side ended up winning 4-1.

It was a comfortable evening for the Villans as goals from Leon Bailey, Youri Tielemans, Ollie Watkins and John McGinn continued their fine start to the season.

It’s not the first time Alkmaar have suffered at the hands of English opponents in Europe this year, with them also falling to defeat against West Ham back in May.

They took on David Moyes’ side in the Europa Conference League semi-finals, with the Hammers winning both legs 1-0 and 2-1 respectively before going on to win the competition.

Those games were, of course, tighter than Thursday’s result, in which Aston Villa again showed their attacking power under Emery’s guidance.

Mijnans, who played in both games, was certainly left impressed and believes the Villans top West Ham when it comes to overall quality.

“Aston Villa are still a better team than West Ham, especially the power up front and the footballing ability,” he said.

“And punishing opportunities. I thought Aston Villa was also a bit more direct in the pressing. West Ham dropped a little more and let us have more of the ball.

“That was the biggest difference today. They are extremely fast up front and very deadly.”

Aston Villa fullback Lucas Digne has had an interview with Colinterview  this week, during which he recalled his arrival at Villa Park back in 2022.

The Frenchman had spent three and a half years playing for Everton, who he had joined from Barcelona in 2018 in a €20m deal.

He had proven to be a key player for the Toffees following his arrival but a bad relationship with former Blues boss Rafa Benitez, meant by January 2022 he was on the way out.

He eventually received a call to join Aston Villa and has now recalled that story, revealing how Steven Gerrard made the option of going to Aston Villa sound so attractive.

“Well, actually, I was cold with my coach at Everton, with Rafa Benitez. And so, as soon as he saw that I was cold with Benitez, he called me directly,” the defender recounted.

“He got my number, I don’t know how. He called me. And he even sent me a message on Instagram. I saw the certificate. Steven Gerrard. I said, oh yeah!,”

“That’s a great anecdote. Because I said to myself, yeah, it’s coach 2.0. He sends me a DM. So, that made me smile. And so, we started talking on the phone. He said to me: ‘yeah, I absolutely want you. I don’t know if we can do it financially’. At first, he was talking to me about a loan.

“I said, ‘I’m not interested in a loan’ I have my children so I need to have a transfer to be able to settle down and have stability. And so, he said to me: ‘no, no. I absolutely want you. So, we’re going to do it’. And a week later, he called me back. He said, we’re going to do everything to recruit you. And then, three weeks later, a month later, I was there.”

Aston Villa ended up spending €30m to sign Digne from Everton in that transfer window, with him signing a contract until 2026.

So far, the fullback has made 61 appearances for the club, and continues to be an importance player for the team with Unai Emery in charge, currently with 14 games this season.

Digne isn’t the only player who seemed to have problems with Rafa Benitez at Everton, and the funny thing is that the Spanish manager ended up getting sacked just days after the player left Goodison Park to join Aston Villa.
