Real Madrid are continuing to position themselves for a potential move to sign Erling Haaland from Manchester City, so they can potentially dominate the Ballon D’or in future.

That’s according to AS and journalist Carlos Forjanes, who say the Spanish side want to ‘assault’ the competition and potentially dominate next year’s edition.

The newspaper explains that this year’s ceremony has left the Spanish giants in ‘disbelief’ as, aside from Jude Bellingham winning an award, they were largely absent from proceedings.

They want to change that for next year and they will ‘once again evaluate their options’ to sign two of the players who could dominate it in future, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé.

Haaland currently has a release clause in his contract, something which AS dramatically label and ‘escape mechanism’ but those in charge at the Etihad have been ‘actively working’ for weeks to renew it.

Their plan is to make him the highest paid player in the Premier League and link Haaland to the club for the forseeable future without a release clause.

That is ‘increasing the degree of difficulty’ for Madrid in their attempts to lure him to Spain but they’re not giving up, particularly after watching him win the Gerd Müller trophy for the best striker.

That, coupled with him placing second in the overall rankings is something they particularly appreciate.

They see him as the ideal man to fill the hole in their forward line left behind by Karim Benzema’s departure, something they never resolved in the summer, and something who can given them an ‘increasingly greater media accent’, which they value, particularly when it comes to a ‘colossal signing’.

They are increasingly keen to get him from Manchester City and potentially partner him with Bellingham, Mbappé and even Vinicius Junior to dominate the Ballon d’Or in the years to come.

On Tuesday morning, Catalan newspaper Sport had a story about Ansu Fati.

It was claimed that following his season on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion, Barcelona will be listening to offers for a permanent transfer, including from the Seagulls.

Now it’s time for Estadio Deportivo to share a story on the forward, this time pointing out an alternative destination for him.

The outlet writes that Fati’s entourage ‘would not see with bad eyes’ signing a ‘lucrative contract’ with clubs from Saudi Arabia.

Barcelona are not making any decisions for now, as they’d even consider using him in case he has an impressive season with Brighton.

Now with the player switching between La Liga and the Premier League, it’s interesting that Saudi football come up as a scenario, especially because he’s just 21.

Since joining Brighton, Fati has three goals and ten appearances, and is still fighting for a place in Roberto De Zerbi’s starting team.

Estadio Deportivo make it clear he’s set to have many options next summer, as even if he fails to impress at the Seagulls, there may be some good money waiting for him.

Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Real Sociedad star Brais Méndez ‘at all costs’, according to Fichajes.net.

Operating mainly as an attacking midfielder, he’s scored five goals and registered five assists from 14 games this season.

The 26-year-old’s fine form has seen Tottenham take notice and they are closely following him. The report further adds they are ‘seriously considering’ making an offer to secure his services in January.

As it stands, Spurs are still in an active planning phase, to present a ‘tempting proposal’ that matches his performances on the pitch.

It’s claimed Ange Postecoglou’s side keeping tabs on the Spain international’s impressive displays shows their genuine interest in acquiring his signature.

Méndez has a contract lasting until 2028 and Fichajes.net state he could consider leaving La Real to try a new experience in the Premier League.

Even though the outlet has repeatedly insisted the north London club could make an offer for the player, they make no mention of the figure Tottenham are willing to table or the fee needed to convince the La Liga side to sell.

Ansu Fati will listen to any offers that come his way in the summer once his loan deal at Brighton and Hove Albion comes to an end.

That’s according to Sport, who say ‘proposals will be heard’, further opening the door to the forward potentially staying at Brighton long-term.

The newspaper explains that this season at Brighton will be one that determines Fati’s future, with it very likely he’ll be leaving Barcelona permanently next summer.

The youngster joined Brighton on loan after it was made clear that he was not a part of Barcelona’s plans for this season because of his problems with injury last year.

He thus joined the Seagulls and after an irregular start has now started to pick up the pace, beginning to perform and shine under Roberto De Zerbi, as many players seem to do.

That’s pleasing for Barcelona as they need to sell and Fati knows that he will never be indispensable there, so ‘proposals will be heard’. The belief is that if he keeps up his current form, or even better, improves it, then he will have plenty of them.

The player believes some of them will come from the Premier League, where there is money to be spent and ‘important clubs’ who could bid for him if he continues to perform at Brighton.

Then there is the Seagulls themselves, who still have cash to spare after another summer of big sales and would surely be keen on keeping the youngster if the opportunity was there.

Either way, it appears that a decision ‘will have to be made’ in the summer and Fati will be on the move, either back to the Amex or somewhere new entirely if the offers are there as expected.

Ilkay Gündogan was left disappointed by his treatment at Barcelona when he first arrived from Manchester City in the summer, having ‘expected more’ of the club.

That’s according to Sport, who say the German midfielder ‘showed his anger’ a few days after arriving at the Camp Nou.

The newspaper covers how Gündogan did not bite his tongue after the weekend defeat to Real Madrid, with post-match comments calling out his teammates and calling for more character and a winning mentality to be developed.

This was the first time he’d raised his voice since his arrival from Manchester City in the summer, but, according to Sport, it was not the first time Gündogan was left disappointed with Barcelona.

They explain that a few days after arriving at the club, Gündogan and his family felt ‘little supported’ by the Catalan giants. They had told him he would arrive as a star player, with all the bells and whistles, but this did not prove to be the case.

Instead Gündogan was shocked by the ‘little attention’ he and his family received in his first days at the club.

He had hoped to receive support, particularly of a logistical nature as he was arriving in a new city looking for a house with a child who is only a few months old.

The main focus was the house search, but he also needed support when it came to transportation and the various procedures that come with a big move. Instead, he and his wife were left feeling somewhat ‘abandoned’.

They did not hesitate to convey this complaint to the club, insisting that it was unacceptable and pointing out what could be improved. Barcelona apologised for the way he had been treated.

Gündogan’s disappointment largely came from the fact he had arrived from a slick, oiled machine-like Manchester City whose ‘excellence’ on and off the pitch is well known.

They’ve established a set up that caters to all of their players’ needs, particularly non-sporting matters such as those involved with a big transfer. Gündogan had expected the same from Barcelona given they are ‘more than a club’ but found the complete opposite.

He’s not the only one to have complained, with Sport saying several other unnamed players who have recently arrived have stated similar.

Former Newcastle United star Faustino Asprilla has revealed that he had an option to join Real Madrid when he was at the Tyneside club.

The Colombian joined the Magpies from Parma in February 1996 and spent over two years with them before returning to the Italian club in the summer of 1998.

Asprilla has told ESPN F360, relayed by Antena 2, that Newcastle wanted to sign Davor Šuker, and as part of the deal, they were willing to let him join Real Madrid. However, the double deal didn’t take shape because of one key individual.

“At Newcastle, they asked me if I wanted to play for Real Madrid, to swap for Davor Šuker. He was going to England and I was going to Spain, but Capello was there and he didn’t accept,” he said.

Šuker spent three years with Los Blancos before leaving them for Arsenal in 1999 while Fabio Capello had two spells with Real Madrid during his managerial career. The latter’s first spell lasted for 12 months during the 1996/97 season.

The deal to take Šuker to Newcastle and the South American to Real Madrid would have likely been pushed forward during the summer of 1996.

Asprilla was a fan favourite during his time at Newcastle and was part of Kevin Keegan’s squad which finished second in the 1995/96 season. The former striker managed 18 goals and 19 assists from 63 games for the Magpies.

Real Sociedad star Robin Le Normand has emerged as a ‘new wish’ for Manchester United, according to Fichajes.net.

The centre-back has impressed for the Spanish club in the league and Champions League this season, and that hasn’t gone unnoticed with other European clubs.

Manchester United have joined the chase for the 26-year-old and it’s even claimed they are one of the clubs best positioned to sign him.

Fichajes.net state Erik ten Hag’s side are urgently looking to bolster their defence, more so if Harry Maguire were to make a move elsewhere.

This is where the Spain international would fit in, and could compliment both Raphaël Varane and Lisandro Martínez.

Along with the Premier League side, Real Madrid are also in the picture to sign the player, and the report states they have identified him as a defensive target for next summer.

Le Normand has a deal until 2026 and with these two clubs likely to compete for his signature, at least according to the report, it’s stated his ‘future is full of possibilities’.

Fichajes.net don’t mention if Manchester United have a desire to sign the player in January or next summer. If it’s the former, it wouldn’t make sense for them to create an urgent need to strengthen the defence by offloading Maguire.

It remains to be seen if this claim will be backed up other outlets in Spain or England.

Real Betis have identified Àlex Moreno as one of the targets to replace Juan Miranda, according to Estadio Deportivo.

Miranda’s contract runs until July 2024, and with a renewal not in sight and AC Milan showing interest, it’s not ruled out that he could change clubs in January.

The La Liga side have identified the Aston Villa left-back and Atlético Madrid’s Javi Galán as targets.

It’s said Real Betis sporting director Ramón Planes likes Galán the most and his side are closely following his situation in Madrid. His deal expires in 2026 and the report says he’s not considering leaving Los Rojiblancos at this stage.

Therefore, Planes is looking for other options and this is where Moreno could potentially fit in. The Spaniard spent over three years at Real Betis before leaving them for Aston Villa in January.

Estadio Deportivo state the 30-year-old was happy at Real Betis but Aston Villa’s offer was ‘irrefutable’, which is why he joined them.

He made 19 appearances for Unai Emery’s side in the second half of the last season and has been sidelined with a hamstring injury since May.

The report states he’s ‘having a bad time in his sporting career’, mainly due to the injury. Planes had earlier joked the Villans player had informed him that he wants to come back to the club.

“I met Àlex Moreno this summer and he told me ‘hey, I want to come back’,” Estadio quoted Planes as saying, but it’s made clear that was jovial rather than factual.

Real Betis’ potential deal for a new left-back would depend on Miranda’s exit and as things stand, Galán seems to be ahead of the Aston Villa defender in Planes’ target list.

Tottenham youngster Bryan Gil has come ‘out of hell’ after returning from ‘a five-month absence in the win over Crystal Palace.

That’s according to AS, who cover the player today and how ‘Spain celebrates’ the return of the winger after a long injury layoff.

They cover how Gil featured for one minute in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace on Friday, his first appearance for Tottenham this season.

That brought an end to a long lay off for the youngster, who had been in ‘agony’ due to injuries after a loan spell at Sevilla last season.

His last appearance was their Europa League win over Roma, with him and Tottenham making the decision in the summer for him to undergo surgery on his pubic bone.

That saw him spend five months on the sidelines, but he’s now returned and he, Spain and Tottenham are all now celebrating.

What role he now has to play for Spurs moving forwards remains to be seen but AS say manager Ange Postecoglou ‘likes him’ and refused to give the green light to a new loan deal in the summer.

That would suggest he has a plan for the player and that’s backed up by the face he has show how to ‘wait patiently’ to use him and not rush him back.

The belief is that Gil won’t be a ‘superfluous’ part of the squad by any means and will have a role to play in a ‘resurgent’ Tottenham team currently sitting top of the Premier League.

Sevilla are ‘preparing to finalise’ the sale of Marcos Acuña with a move to Aston Villa in the January transfer window ‘taking shape’.

That’s according to Fichajes, who say that Aston Villa will re-ignite their interest in the Argentine full-back and could sign him early in the January window.

They were keen on Acuña in the summer, and it seems like a move was going to happen but for various reasons, including the player picking up an injury, the transfer failed.

Their interest ‘has not waned’, though, and reports this week have indicated that Sevilla are happy to sanction an exit.

Aston Villa have ‘maintained a constant interest’ in the player, with manager Unai Emery trusting in his potential and both he and his club are ‘willing to shell out’ €15m to secure his signature.

An agreement ‘seems to be advanced’ and could be one of the first movements of the January window when it opens.

Acuña, for his part, has expressed his desire for a change of scenery in the past and ‘seems excited’ at the prospect of joining Aston Villa.

He’s ready for a new challenge in the Premier League and talks appear to be moving forward to get him to Villa Park.
