Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Real Sociedad star Brais Méndez ‘at all costs’, according to Fichajes.net.

Operating mainly as an attacking midfielder, he’s scored five goals and registered five assists from 14 games this season.

The 26-year-old’s fine form has seen Tottenham take notice and they are closely following him. The report further adds they are ‘seriously considering’ making an offer to secure his services in January.

As it stands, Spurs are still in an active planning phase, to present a ‘tempting proposal’ that matches his performances on the pitch.

It’s claimed Ange Postecoglou’s side keeping tabs on the Spain international’s impressive displays shows their genuine interest in acquiring his signature.

Méndez has a contract lasting until 2028 and Fichajes.net state he could consider leaving La Real to try a new experience in the Premier League.

Even though the outlet has repeatedly insisted the north London club could make an offer for the player, they make no mention of the figure Tottenham are willing to table or the fee needed to convince the La Liga side to sell.

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has revealed he wanted to play for Uruguay in the September international break, despite being out injured with a knee ligament rupture.

That Uruguayan has been speaking to Sport 890 in his homeland, relayed by El Pais, regarding his international future under Marcelo Bielsa.

Bentancur has been out injured since February with a cruciate ligament rupture that saw him spend 245 days on the treatment table.

He returned on Friday in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, playing a minute in the second half and making his long-awaited return from the injury absence.

His plan is now to get back to full fitness as soon as possible and compete for a place at Tottenham, where he will have to work hard to get Ange Postecoglou’s favourite pairing of Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr out of the team.

His focus is also on the national team, though, and he’s revealed he was even ready to go play for Uruguay in September, despite still being out injured.

“The national team is always in contact with me. I always have the hope and desire to go,” he said.

“I have to show that I’m fine. I’m ready to play, I’m no longer injured. If Marcelo Bielsa calls me, I’m there. I had two talks with him about the position I was going to play in and what he wanted from me.

“Then I continued having contact with the doctors. If it was up to me, I would go on the double date in September. The desire and willingness are there.”

The question now is whether Bentancur can force himself back into Tottenham’s team and re-establish himself as the key player he was previously.

That will certainly be difficult given the relationship that has formed between Sarr and Bissouma this season and the performances they’ve put in.

With Tottenham also flying high at the top of the league, it seems unlikely that Postecoglou will be rushing to change his team anytime soon either.

There may be a point where Bentancur looks elsewhere, and it appears there is one transfer he would particularly like at some point, a move to Peñarol.

“I am a fan, and I would love to play for the club,” he added.

“Federico Valverde is crazy. If it were up to him, he would come back now. Two out of three times tells me to play together and try to fight for a Copa Libertadores. The dream is there.”

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur has revealed he is nearly a month ahead of schedule after returning from a ligament injury.

The Uruguayan has been speaking to Sport 890 in his homeland after making his long-anticipated return from injury over the weekend.

The midfielder has spent the last eight months on the treatment table after suffering a cruciate ligament rupture in February of this year.

That’s seen him spend 254 days on the treatment table and miss 28 Tottenham games to date, including their superb start to the season under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

He made his return to the first team in Friday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace, coming on for a minute in the second half of the eventual victory.

That was his first step in his return to full fitness and competing for a starting role, providing competition to the new favoured midfield duo of Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma.

That’s a battle the Uruguayan is ready to take up it seems, revealing that the medical team at Tottenham have had to hold him back as it is, with his return a month ahead of the initial schedule.

“That February I finished the game, I walked away. When I told the doctor that I felt a crack during the match, he was honest and said it could be the ligament,” he told 100% Deporte.

“I didn’t suffer during recovery. The knee reacted very well to all the stimuli and increased loads during the process. They only took fluids from me three times.

“The last two months my subconscious began to win over me because I was already ready to play. Today they changed the deadlines to avoid relapses, they ask you for almost nine months and they didn’t want me to return until November 21.”

Rodrigo Bentancur came off the bench in Tottenham Hotspur’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

Back in February, the midfielder sustained a serious knee injury and was on the sidelines for most of this year, before returning to the pitch on Friday.

D Sports say ‘now the illusion’ for the Tottenham player is to return to Uruguay’s squad for the upcoming international break.

Both Spurs and Uruguay changed managers whilst the 26-year-old was recovering from injury. The former appointed Ange Postecoglou as their new manager in June, a month after Marcelo Bielsa took charge of La Celeste.

Uruguay will face Argentina and Bolivia in World Cup qualifiers in November and D Sports say the hope is for Bentancur to make it to Bielsa’s squad.

The chances of Bentancur’s return to the national seem high improved after his personal physiotherapist, Daniel Fernández, explained to Radio Sport 890 about the work put in by the player to avoid any further setbacks.

“The return was very calm. Rodrigo has a very important spirit, the professionalism and calmness he has led to him being in good shape and returning,” he said, relayed by D Sports.

“We did a very important job so that he is confident and so that the injured leg does not have any difficulties. The volume of work he did to give stability to the leg is very important.”

The South American’s personal coach has also revealed that Uruguay’s coaching staff are in contact with both the player and Tottenham to learn about his physical condition.

“Uruguay’s technical staff is constantly in contact with Rodrigo and Tottenham. They have all their data. He is fit to play, but the coaching staff will evaluate whether he can play the 100 minutes played today,” Fernández explained.

Tottenham’s next tie is against Chelsea on November 6th, and Bentancur may again be in contention to come off the bench.

On September 4th, Galatasaray signed Tanguy Ndombélé from Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal, and the midfielder has been restricted to 123 minutes from seven games this season.

Earlier this month, Milliyet journalist Nevzat Dindar stated the 26-year-old has struggled in Istanbul because he’s overweight.

Fotospor state the Tottenham owned player’s weight problem ‘cannot be resolved to the desired level’.

The former Lyon man was overweight by 6kg when he arrived in Istanbul, according to the claims, and the club’s doctors and dietitians took action immediately. The outlet also states his body fat % was at 20% and the goal was to reduce it to 16.

However, ‘nothing has changed’ drastically as the 26-year-old’s weight has dropped by 2kgs, and the body fat % hasn’t changed at all. His weight ‘continues to be a problem’, according to the report, and it could have an impact on his stay in Turkey.

Another report from Fotospor states Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk has ‘lost patience’ with the Tottenham man and is not pleased with his attitude and lack of professionalism.

The Turkish champions have an option to make his stay permanent but the outlet states they will terminate his contract because he has ‘not contributed anything’ so far.

Galatasaray have identified AZ Alkmaar’s Dani de Wit as a target to replace Ndombélé, likely in January. The former’s deal expires in 2024 and Galatasaray believe they can sign for €1m.

Should that happen, Tottenham may have to find a solution for the Frenchman in January.

Andrea Cambiaso’s start to the season at Juventus seems to have attracted Tottenham Hotspur’s interest.

It’s Calcio Mercato who feature a story on the 23-year-old fullback, highlighting his recent form and saying the Premier League has ‘set their eyes’ on him.

It turns out there’s only one English club who are actually named in the piece, and that’s Tottenham.

It’s claimed there’s been ‘talk of an interest’ from Spurs following surveys made by Premier League clubs in the summer.

An interesting aspect here is that even though Juventus want to keep the player, the story claims it’s ‘not excluded’ that he could leave the Old Lady in the near future.

Cambiaso has a contract with the Bianconeri until 2027, but it seems his lack of starts is what could convince him to move elsewhere.

That said, it’s unlikely he’d get a starting place at Tottenham either.

Transfermarkt currently values the fullback at €10m, but with CalcioMercato sounding sure that some Premier League clubs will be interested in him, it’s hard to imagine Tottenham getting the signing for just that amount. He’s also expected to soon be called by the national team, and that should bring his price up as well.

Tottenham Hotspur have their eyes set on Inter Milan star Hakan Çalhanoğlu for next summer.

Operating as a defensive/central midfielder, he’s managed four goals and one assist from 12 games this season. His form is said to have attracted attention from England where Spurs are again thought to be in the mix.

According to InterLive.it, Tottenham ‘can try’ to sign the 29-year-old after this season if two conditions are fulfilled. The first one is the north London club qualifying for the Champions League.

Ange Postecoglou’s side are currently leading the table and are one of the contenders to win the title this season. The second one is related to Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s future at the Premier League side.

Højbjerg had to settle for a limited role under the former Celtic manager this season and with a deal until 2025, he’s already been linked with a move away from Tottenham in the upcoming windows.

If the Dane leaves and Spurs qualify for the Champions League next season, it’s said they could ‘give a serious thought’ to signing the Turkey international next summer.

Çalhanoğlu has a deal lasting until 2027 and InterLive.it state Simone Inzaghi’s side will need an ‘indispensable’ fee of at least €50m to sanction his sale.

He can operate across several midfield positions and his addition would further strengthen Tottenham’s squad, if they were to secure his services.

That €50m, though, sounds ambitious to say the least.

Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal has told R7 that he isn’t concerned about the harsh criticism directed towards him from outside the club.

At the start of the last season, the right-back struggled and that saw criticism from a section of the Tottenham supporters, pundits, former players and media.

The 24-year-old finished the previous season with two goals and an assist from 36 games and lost his place when Cristian Stellini was in charge at Tottenham for a brief period.

When R7 asked how he turned things around last season, the Brazil international insisted that there’s no running away from the criticism, but he also made it clear he doesn’t let it get to him too much.

“I’ve always been a guy who has a lot of confidence in myself and my work. The fans, narrator, commentator and whoever is watching don’t know what I do every day, they don’t watch my training, they don’t know the work I do at home, I know who I am. They criticised me a lot, but I didn’t listen,” he said.

“Obviously, there’s no way I could escape it, because it was in front of me, on social media and in the stadium, but I knew my potential. I believe that in a situation like this you have two options: either you victimise yourself or you turn things around, and I’ve always been the person to turn things around.”

The former Real Betis man has made eight appearances this season, and that includes only one league start, which came in their first game against Brentford in August.

He even scored in Spurs’ 2-2 draw against the Bees and despite this, Ange Postecoglou has favoured Pedro Porro on the right side of defence this season.

With regards to the competition with Porro for a place in the starting lineup, Emerson explained: “I’m completely professional, it’s healthy competition, which we enjoy. Even though I’m not always playing, I’m strong, and when the coach needs me, he can always count on me.

“I have the ambition to seek my position again and keep Tottenham at the top of the table, and I believe that this season we have a great chance of staying in the fight for the title.”

Tottenham Hotspur were credited with an interest in Galatasaray’s Victor Nelsson in the last window and reports linking him to the Premier League side haven’t stopped.

Four days ago, Star Gazetesi reported the centre-back is the ‘first target’ for the north London club in January.

Akşam provides more updates on Tottenham’s desire to sign the 25-year-old and also the Turkish champions’ plans for him.

Earlier this month, the defender admitted he wasn’t pleased with the Istanbul club’s decision to block his exit and also revealed that he has refused to sign a new deal.

Since then, he hasn’t made an appearance for Galatasaray and his future seems to be away from his current employer.

It’s claimed the Denmark international is ‘preparing to leave’ in the winter market and when discussing interested parties, Tottenham are mentioned.

His deal runs down in 2026 and the Turkish club will ‘evaluate offers’ for Nelsson who is valued at €19m. According to Akşam, Galatasaray are aiming to collect around €15-20m from his sale.

The report only states Ange Postecoglou’s side are interested, without providing further details of their pursuit of the Dane.

Nelsson has made 13 appearances this season, and five of them were in the Champions League qualifiers.

With Tottenham sitting top of the Premier League with their best ever start and one of the best starts to a Premier League season ever, it’s fair to say everything is looking rosy.

Ange Postecoglou is the man of the moment; Harry Kane has been quickly forgotten and several new stars have emerged for the fans to adore.

One of those is full-back Destiny Udogie, who has seemingly emerged from nowhere to make the left-back spot his own and become a rising star of Europe. Except, at least according to Calciomercato, there is nothing surprising about it.

They cover the youngster today and say there is no doubt that Udogie ‘will get to the top’, and it could even be argued he is already there.

They say he seems ‘born’ to play in the Premier League, perfectly adapted to ‘that type of football’ thanks to his speed and physique, two traits which embody the best modern full backs.

He ‘isn’t paying’ for his decision to move from Udinese to Tottenham, the latter of whom moved for him more than a year ago.

They paid €25m to sign him from Udinese in 2022, leaving him at the Italian club for a year, when the ‘intuition’ of then director of football Fabio Paratici told him to get a deal wrapped up.

That was a ‘high figure’ for the player at the time, one that some argued was too high, but which is actually ‘turning out to be a bargain’.

The Pozzo family, who own Udinese, put a high asking price on Udogie because they knew they had a ‘diamond in the rough’.

Inter Milan and Juventus had already noticed Udogie and met with his agents several times in the summer of 2022 but gave up when Tottenham made their move.

They’re now benefitting from his rapid progress this season as the full-back looks destined to be one of the best in Europe in the years to come.
