Sevilla are ‘already considering’ activating the purchase option they have on Leicester City midfielder Boubakary Soumaré after his impressive early performances at the club.

That’s according to El Sevillista, who say the Spanish side are determined to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis and not lose him.

Soumaré joined Sevilla on a season long loan deal from Leicester in the summer, joining the list of players to leave the Foxes following their relegation last season.

That loan deal includes an option for the deal to be made permanent for €15m and Sevilla are now ‘determined’ to activate it.

According to the website, Soumaré’s ‘excellent performance’ against Arsenal in the Champions League this week was one of several this season and he’s more than proven to be a ‘valuable acquisition’ for the Spanish cub.

He’s ‘generated positive expectations’ and as a result Sevilla are already considered exercising the purchase option that they have on him.

His ‘skill and solidity’ in midfield have become ‘fundamental’ to the team and Sevila are now ‘determined’ to ensure he remains and doesn’t return to Leicester at the end of the season.

Whether that means they look to buy him early, in the January transfer window for example, or wait until next summer remains to be seen but it seems they’re keen on using that clause either way.

Leicester City’s start to the season has been a reason for big excitement in Portugal.

Sporting are hoping the Foxes get promoted to the Premier League, so they’ll have to buy Issahaku Fatawu from the Lions.

Portuguese newspaper Record is the one featuring a story about the winger, who has just been named in the Championship’s team of the week.

Fatawu scored a goal in Leicester City’s 3-1 away win against Swansea City, and that obviously helped his nomination.

As Sporting watch the situation, they know his good performances aren’t enough for his loan to turn into a permanent move, as the purchase clause is actually tied to promotion.

Record recalls that in case Leicester City do make it to the Premier League next season, then they’ll have to pay the Portuguese club €17m for the signing.

Fatawu wasn’t exactly wanted at the Lisbon side, and is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €4m, so that’d be a great piece of business for the Lions.

With Leicester City having a good start to the season, Sporting are now said to be ‘rubbing their hands together’.

Victor Kristiansen may have just left Leicester City for a loan spell at Bologna this summer, but it seems the Serie A side are already keen on negotiating those terms again.

When agreeing to let the fullback move to the Italian club, the Foxes accepted a one-year deal which included a €15m buying option.

Now, according to Corriere Dello Sport (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Bologna already want a discount from the Foxes.

It’s said that the Serie A side have been working ‘for a few weeks’ to lower that price, even though they know their chances aren’t big.

The story claims that Bologna’s biggest possibility would be in case Leicester City don’t get promotion back to the Premier League for next season, as another year in the Championship would leave them in a situation where they could be more willing to give that discount.

It definitely sounds quite early for the Italian club to try for a lower price, especially because it’s impossible for the Foxes to figure out the situation they’ll be in next summer.

That attempt only proves that Kristansen has left very good impressions following his five first appearances for Bologna.

Leicester City’s season in the Championship has apparently not changed the Foxes’ scouting habits.

According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, the English club were one of those who had a representative at Porto’s match against Portimonense on Sunday.

The story claims the list of visitors was shorter than usual, and Leicester City were one of the clubs who made sure to be there, although there are no details on who they could be watching.

Porto beat Portimonense 1-0, with Evanilson scoring the winner and also being named the man of the match.

Other players from the Dragons such as Diogo Costa and Zé Pedro may have also drawn positive notes from Leicester City’s scout.

As the Foxes’ market this summer was much more focused on big departures than arrivals, it’s been a while since they were last linked to Porto players, so it’s hard to imagine who they were really keeping an eye on in this game.

Perhaps the Portuguese media will soon come with that answer, although there’s still some time for observations before the opening of the next transfer window.

Former Leicester City defender Alexandru Pascanu is today highlighted in a story from Spanish newspaper La Nueva Espana.

The 25-year-old, who belongs to Ponferradina, is having a loan spell at Sporting Gijon, and has been standing out in the second division this season.

Pascanu spent years with Leicester City’s academy, and he now reveals that instead of the Foxes, he could have built his early career with Nottingham Forest instead.

That happened after his move to England, as his parents left Romania looking for a better life. That’s when he drew attention from both clubs.

“When I was six years old I played on the town team. A year later a scout came from Leicester City and another from Nottingham Forest and they invited me to do trials. I went to both clubs. They both loved me. Then my father asked where I wanted to go.

“The distance is almost the same. But I felt better for Leicester City than Nottingham Forest. When I arrived the team was in the Championship. But they are relegated to League One. They had many financial problems. I remember how everything changed… The sports city then was not so good. But the club began to grow.”

Pascanu had appearances for Leicester City’s U-18, U-19 and U-21 levels, but was never really given the chance to make his debut for the first team.

He left the Foxes in 2019, when CFR Cluk bought him for just €600k. Since then, he also played for FC Voluntari, Ponferradina and now Sporting Gijon, who’ll have a buying option over him at the end of the season. Now we wonder whether things would have been different in case he’d chosen Nottingham Forest at the time.

Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca today gets some big praise from the Spanish media.

Outlet AS features a story calling the coach ‘the angel of Leicester’, telling a Spanish audience he was able to bring excitement back to Foxes’ fans.

It’s said that despite all the drama involved in Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship, the club have been managing to find ‘excitement and joy’ in their recent campaign, as the supporters now have ‘plenty of reason’ to believe they’ll soon be back in the Premier League.

AS highlights the drama that the club went through since relegation, as the likes of James Maddison and Youri Tielemans chose to leave the Foxes for other English sides this summer, and the club still managed to overcome those losses with Maresca in charge.

‘Leicester’s start is more than promising. Without being a conclusive synonym, it is significant. The possible return to the Premier is a real dream at the King Power Stadium. For now, the numbers and sensations show it’, they say.

Since his arrival at Leicester City, the manager has ten wins in 12 games. The Foxes are in second place in the Championship with 24 points after nine fixtures, and can get to the top of the table soon, as they’ve played less game played than Ipswich Town.

Newell’s Old Boys youngster Brian Aguirre is destined for a ‘European future’ after Brighton & Hove Albion and Leicester City ‘raised their hands for him’ this summer.

That’s according to El Dia, who cover the player today and believe he will end up at a European club before too long if he continues his rapid development.

They explain that Aguirre is ‘the jewel of Newell’s’ at this moment in time and because of that he ‘promises a European future’ at some point.

Teams like Brighton and Leicester have already ‘surveyed’ the young forward, who has also been shining for the Argentine U20 national team.

The 20-year-old plays mostly on the left wing and after making his debut at 18 has ‘not stopped growing’ to the point where he is now an undisputed starter, and has become ‘the desire’ for several European teams.

That desire has only grown this year, which has seen him become a key player for Newell’s under Gabriel Heinze and a star man for Argentina at the U20 World Cup.

His performances there went a long way to ‘consolidating the definitive desire’ of two clubs in England, namely Brighton and Leicester.

We covered their interest at the time and El Dia back that up, stating they ‘raised their hands’ in an attempt to take the ‘spicy footballer’ away from his club and to England.

They were quoted €10m by his club, not an insurmountable figure by any means, but neither made their move and he remained where he was for the time being.

Since then, he’s been continuing to impress, posting impressive numbers in various categories and getting minutes and crucial development under his belt as well.

That will only have further increased interest in him and fortunately for Newell’s his current contract, which expires in 2025, doesn’t have a release clause.

That means anyone who wants him faces tough negotiations, with expected figures around that €10m mark but the Argentine side likely to push for as much as possible.

Whether Brighton, Leicester or another interested party will pay as much remains to be seen but there is a growing sense Aguirre will end up in Europe at some point regardless.

Barcelona have identified Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi as a target, according to a ‘confidential’ report from today’s edition of Catalan newspaper Sport.

The midfielder has managed three goals and an assist from 10 games this season, and has a deal lasting until June.

It’s claimed the La Liga side will ‘pay close attention’ to players with deals expiring in 2024 and the list includes the Leicester man.

Xavi Hernández’s side have ‘taken an interest’ in the 26-year-old’s situation at the King Power and will continue to monitor him throughout the season.

Barcelona know the player well and their interest isn’t new as they looked at him a few years ago, when it was ‘impossible’ to carry out the deal because of the asking price.

The situation will be different next summer if the Nigeria international doesn’t sign a new deal at Leicester. At the same time, Barca could face competition from others to take him on a free transfer.

In the last window, Ndidi attracted interest from several clubs after the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League.

Sport state Bayern Munich negotiated for him while both Atlético Madrid and Juventus approached his entourage.

Barcelona, for now, ‘don’t lose sight’ of Ndidi and will continue to follow his situation at Leicester City.

Bologna sporting director Marco Di Vaio has revealed that they had to go through “the most difficult negotiations” to get Victor Kristiansen from Leicester City this summer.

The director has been speaking about the Leicester man in comments relayed by Tutto Bologna, admitting their interest in him was a strong one.

Kristiansen joined the Italian side on loan earlier this summer, becoming one of several players to leave the Foxes following their relegation to the Championship last season.

He had only been at Leicester since the January transfer window after making a €14m move from FC Copenhagen at the end of that window.

He’d featured regularly between the end of the season but decided to head for pastures new rather than spend this season in the Championship under new manager Enzo Maresca.

Indeed, the defender commented on that today, revealing he immediately sought an exit from the club after speaking to his new manager regarding the situation.

He eventually ended up at Bologna, where he was warmly welcomed, with Di Vaio revealing they’d tried to get him before his move to Leicester.

“Kristiansen was our first choice to replace Hickey,” he said during the player’s presentation at the club.

“We watched him live several times but then the Premier League arrived, and it became difficult for us to do that type of operation.

“After the Leicester’s relegation, we asked for information and with the arrival of the new manager there was an opening to a loan with right, but it was one of the most difficult negotiations.”

As Leicester City loanee Victor Kristiansen today had a word with the Italian media, he had something interesting to say about his time with the Foxes.

This summer, the left-back was sent to Bologna, and claimed that the relegation to the Championship is actually not the only reason why he left the English club.

In quotes relayed by Bologna Sport News, Kristiansen was first asked about his choice to make the move. He explained he wasn’t feeling comfortable at Leicester City since the arrival of Enzo Maresca, and due to the lack of chances of playing in his natural position, he preferred to leave the Foxes.

“When Leicester changed manager they wanted me to play as a central defender, but I preferred to continue playing in my role,” said Kristiansen.

“I told my agent that I needed to change teams to be a full-back. Bologna arrived offering me a nice project. The first match was good, we won which is the most important thing and played a good match.”

The fullback also recalled his arrival at Leicester City, claiming he’s still glad he made that choice to get some experience in English football.

“It wasn’t easy. I went to Leicester to play in the Premier League even though the team were in a bad position in the standings, and in fact were relegated, but I couldn’t say no to the English championship. At the same time, I’m grateful for this period because it made me stronger. Now I’m very happy to be in Bologna.”

Kristiansen was signed by Leicester City on a €14m move from FC Copenhagen in January 2023. He only made 14 appearances before leaving the cub this summer.

The 20-year-old is now loaned to Bologna until the end of the season, with the Italian side holding a buying option over him.
